(a) illustrates the time dependence of the solutions πœ’ π‘˜ of (32) for a representative choice of parameters. The oscillatory behaviour at early times represents the adiabatic initial condition. At 𝑑 = 0 the effective frequency (33) varies nonadiabatically and the fluctuations get a β€œkick”. (b) plots the occupation number (35) for the same mode. No particles are present in the adiabatic in-going regime. This figure illustrates how the violations of adiabaticity at 𝑑 = 0 lead to production of πœ’ particles.
