Production of Oxidants by Ion Bombardment of Icy Moons in the Outer Solar System

<table>IR spectra (shifted for clarity) of H<sub>2</sub>O ice as deposited and after irradiation with 52 MeV Ni<sup>+13</sup> at 15 K. It is clear the appearance, upon irradiation, of a band at about 2850 cm<sup>−1</sup> easily attributed to <svg height="15.5125" id="M19" style="vertical-align:-3.27605pt" version="1.1" viewbox="0 0 38.512501 15.5125" width="38.512501" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">
