ROS scavengers prevented PMA-induced adherens junction loss and actin fiber redistribution. PAEC monolayers were pretreated with ROS scavengers (4 mM N-acetyl cysteine, 50 mM sodium pyruvate) for 1 hour before the 30-minute treatment with 1 μM PMA. Samples were fixed and immunofluorescently labeled for (a) β-catenin, with representative cells magnified in (c), and immunofluorescently labeled for (b) actin, with representative cells magnified in (d).
