Advanced Management in Civil Engineering Projects

Description

Civil engineering projects are not only faced with technological problems but also management problems. Current literature shows that most of project failures are caused by project management problems. Therefore, management strategies are necessary to settle the problems occurring in the design, procurement, and construction phases of civil engineering projects and assure the successful delivery. These strategies can cover the interrelated areas of scope management, time management, cost management, quality management, human resource management, communication management, risk management, procurement management, and stakeholder management.

This special issue aims to present the researches regarding management in civil engineering projects, which provide theoretical and/or practical implications. Review articles that describe the past, present, and future of a relevant topic are also welcome.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Time and cost management
  • Procurement and contract management, including public-private partnership (PPP)
  • Health and safety issues
  • Risk and uncertainty management
  • Decision making techniques and theories
  • Information management
