Bamboo/Wood Composites and Structures
Description
Worldwide, there is a growing interest in the development of engineered bamboo/wood products as a sustainable and ecologically responsible alternative construction material.
Engineered bamboo/wood composites can be standardized for their dimensions and properties and the structure members can be prefabricated in the factory. Numerous tests, research, and practical experiences have revealed that engineered bamboo/wood members have the advantages of high strength-to-weight ratio, excellent thermal properties, and long durability. Bamboo/wood structures are also known for having excellent seismic performances due to their light weight and good ductility. For this reason, research and development of bamboo/wood composites as well as their applications has been unparalleled in the last two decades. To share advances with others who have similar interests is important to promote the utilization of bamboo/wood composites and structures.
This Special Issue will focus on publishing original research articles and reviews on the latest findings that cover various aspects of modern bamboo/wood structures.
Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:
- Mechanical properties of engineered bamboo/wood composites
- Analytical and experimental evaluation of engineered bamboo/wood members
- Temperature and moisture effects
- Fracture and creep behaviour
- Innovative connection techniques
- Seismic design
- Combustion property and fire resistance
- Case studies
