Transfer Process, Retardation Measures of Industrial Pollutants and Heat in Soils

Description

Geo-environmental engineering is a major concept related to the human living environment and sustainable development. The related fields include technical measures of geo-environmental problems caused by civil engineering construction, migration of various pollutants in soils, treatment of urban landfills, thermal energy utilization and environmental protection as well as complicated multi-physical field coupling problems. In recent years, the advancement of new theories, methods and technologies in the field of environment and energy have promoted the development of civil engineering and its close intersection with other disciplines. The transfer process of pollutants involves the interaction mechanism between them and geotechnical media. Research aspects include pollutant migration, treatment measures, reuse of industrial waste, and comprehensive utilization.

For this purpose, it is necessary to investigate the composition and scale of mineral particles of soils and pore water, ion concentration and chemical composition of pore water, micro-structure characteristics, stress history, and thermal expansion performance, especially their coupling process.

This Special Issue aims to bring together original research and review articles discussing the most recent developments in the transfer process, retardation mechanism of industrial waste and heat flow in soils and resource utilization, including the geo-environments caused by various human activities and thermal resource utilization such as waste disposal, migration of pollutants, and geothermal resource development to stimulate fruitful technical and scientific interaction between professionals. We welcome theoretical, numerical, experimental, and field studies at various scales that address the relevant research objectives.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Geo-environmental pollution caused by human activities and its treatment
  • Disposal of industrial solid waste and resource utilization
  • Hydrodynamic process and pollutant migration
  • Groundwater movement, and pollution migration and treatment
  • Energy geotechnical engineering, and heat transfer in soils
  • Geothermal resource utilization
  • Thermal energy storage
  • Environmental effects induced by construction disturbance
  • Internal erosion, including suffusion and interface erosion
  • Geo-environmental geotechnics and sustainable development
