Rheumatoid Arthritis

Description

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is one of about 80 different types of autoimmune diseases. The use of the anti-TNF alpha and B cells blockers has modified its molecular and clinical profile. Further, the comorbidities complicate the choice of an effective drug or make the use of an effective drug more difficult.

From a rheumatological point of view, the novel technique of imaging, such as sonographic exams, can enable an early diagnosis in RA contributing to a more appropriate management of the disease. Knowledge and understanding of the new hypothesis have led to the development of new therapeutic strategies and to better care for patients.

We invite investigators to contribute original research articles as well as review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand the molecular pathways underlying RA and other arthropathies and the development of strategies to do early diagnosis, to treat this condition, and to evaluate the outcomes. We are particularly interested in articles describing the new modalities for pathogenesis, clinical features, diagnosis, rehabilitation, treatment, and prevention of RA. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • From molecular pathways to clinical trials
  • Predisease—what happens before diagnosis
  • Pain in rheumatic diseases and other arthropathies
  • Sonographic exam and clinical aspects in RA
  • Anti-TNF blockers and comorbidities in RA
  • Comorbidities in rheumatic diseases
  • Rehabilitation and quality of life in RA
  • Muscle growth and atrophy in acute and chronic inflammation
  • Genetics and regulation of immune response
  • Bone and cartilage regeneration imaging

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ad/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/ad/ra/ according to the following timetable:
