How Well Do Gridded Datasets of Observed Daily Precipitation Compare over Australia?

Maps of correlations of daily precipitation time series from 1998 to 2013 at each grid location between the seven gridded datasets created for the purposes of this study and the established gridded datasets AWAP, TRMM, and GPCP. The rows represent the seven new gridded datasets and the columns represent AWAP, TRMM, and GPCP, respectively. For example, the map in the second row of the third column depicts the correlations between CS and GPCP datasets. A negative correlation (−0.3) is seen only between CS and GPCP at a location south of Sydney. All mean correlations were calculated on an identical spatial domain, except for those involving GA due to the presence of additional empty grid cells.
