Mechanism of Cytosolic Phospholipase A₂ Activation in Ghrelin Protection of Salivary Gland Acinar Cells against Ethanol Cytotoxicity

Effect of nitric oxide synthase (a) and cyclooxygenase (b) inhibitors on the ghrelin (Gh)-induced changes in the release of arachidonic acid and cPLA₂ activity in sublingual salivary gland acinar cells in the presence of ethanol (Et). The cells, preincubated with 400 𝜇M L-NAME (LN), 30 𝜇M 1400W (14W), 20 𝜇M PP2 and 30 𝜇M PD98059 (PD) or 2 𝜇M indomethacin (In), 15 𝜇M SC-560 (SC), 20 𝜇M NS-398 (NS) and 300 𝜇M ascorbate, were treated with Gh at 0.7 𝜇g/ml and incubated for 2 h in the presence of 3% Et.
