Mechanism of Cytosolic Phospholipase A 2 Activation in Ghrelin Protection of Salivary Gland Acinar Cells against Ethanol Cytotoxicity

Figure 4

Effect of nitric oxide synthase (a) and cyclooxygenase (b) inhibitors on the ghrelin (Gh)-induced changes in the release of arachidonic acid and cPLA2 activity in sublingual salivary gland acinar cells in the presence of ethanol (Et). The cells, preincubated with 400  M L-NAME (LN), 30  M 1400W (14W), 20  M PP2 and 30  M PD98059 (PD) or 2  M indomethacin (In), 15  M SC-560 (SC), 20  M NS-398 (NS) and 300  M ascorbate, were treated with Gh at 0.7  g/ml and incubated for 2 h in the presence of 3% Et. Values represent the means ± SD of five experiments. compared with that of control. compared with that of Et alone. compared with that of Gh + Et.
