Allergic Airway-Induced Hypersensitivity Is Attenuated by Bergapten in Murine Models of Inflammation

C57BL/6 mice were sensitized by single administration each of 500 µl BSA (0.5 mg ml⁻¹) and 500 µl triple antigen containing 2 × 10⁷ of Bordetella pertussis cells. Mice were treated daily for 10 days with either saline 10 ml kg⁻¹, prednisolone 10 mg kg⁻¹, or bergapten 3–30 mg kg⁻¹ and challenged with 250 µl BSA (0.5 mg ml⁻¹), i.p. 2 h after last treatment. Mortality was monitored for 1 h. Data were analyzed using the log-rank (Mantel–Cox) test, and survival rates were significant.
