With the development of nanotechnology, noble metal nanoparticles are widely used in the treatment of cancer due to their unique optical properties, excellent biocompatibility, surface effects, and small size effects. In recent years, researchers have designed and synthesized a large number of nanomedicines that can be used for cancer treatment based on the morphology, physical and chemical properties, mechanism of action, and toxicological studies of noble metal nanoparticles. Furthermore, the integration of diagnosis and treatment, hyperthermia, cytotoxicity research, and drug delivery system based on the study of noble metal nanoparticles can be used as effective means for cancer treatment. This article focuses on the analysis of noble metal nanoparticles that are widely used in the treatment of cancer, such as gold nanoparticles, silver nanoparticles, platinum nanoparticles, and palladium nanoparticles. The various methods and mechanisms of action of noble metal nanoparticles in the treatment of cancer are objectively summarized in detail. Based on the research on the therapeutic safety and toxicity of noble metal nanoparticles, the development prospect of noble metal nanoparticles in the future clinical application is prospected.

Recent Advances in the Development of Noble Metal NPs for Cancer Therapy

Water pollution caused by various natural and artificial sources such as expansion of industrialization, rapid increment in population size, the threat of climate change, and development in urbanization takes a serious attention. Due to this fact, various protocols and techniques were adopted for the treatment of such polluted water. In the present findings, TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) and TiO2/rGO nanocomposites (NCs) were synthesized using titanium tetra butoxide in the presence of Citrus sinensis (CS) and Musa acuminata (MA) peel waste extract as a capping, reducing, and stabilizing agent. The synthesized NPs and NCs were characterized using thermogravimetric-differential thermal analysis (TGA/DTA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED) pattern, ultraviolet diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-DRS), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The synthesized NPs and NCs were investigated as green alternative photocatalyst for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) dye under visible light irradiation. Thermal analysis results confirmed that the green synthesized TiO2 NPs were found to be too stable above 550°C. XRD analysis result showed that the average crystalline size of CS and MA mediated synthesized TiO2 NPs with various volume ratios was in the range of 7.3–27.3 nm and 13.4–22.4 nm, respectively. The average crystalline size of CS and MA peel extract template synthesized TiO2/rGO NCs was found to be in the range of 7.5–15.3 and 11.2–12.5 nm, respectively. SEM analysis proved that the various synthesized TiO2 NPs and TiO2/rGO NCs were spherical in shape and the absence of any other foreign materials confirmed the purity of the corresponding nanocatalysts. In addition, TEM, HRTEM, and SAED analysis confirmed that the structures of the synthesized nanocatalysts were spherical in shape and the catalysts were too crystalline and the result was found to fit with the XRD result. Among the synthesized various volume ratios of TiO2 nanocatalysts, high percentage of degradation (62% and 58.2%) was achieved using TiO2-2c and TiO2-2 m, respectively. Moreover, 94.28% and 94.25% of MB degradation were achieved in the presence of TiO2/rGO-1.5c and TiO2/rGO-1.5c nanocomposite photocatalysts, respectively.

Citrus sinensis and Musa acuminata Peel Waste Extract Mediated Synthesis of TiO2/rGO Nanocomposites for Photocatalytic Degradation of Methylene Blue under Visible Light Irradiation

Iron oxide and titania-based composite nanoparticles (NPs) populated with core-shell structures, as part of the mixture of the monometallic NPs, were prepared in water medium by the two-fluence LASER ablation technique by applying 30 and 60 mJ/cm2 LASER energy irradiations. The prepared monometallics, composite, and core-shell NPs structures were confirmed from the XRD, TEM, and EDX analyses, followed by the FE-SEM and UV absorptions. Optically, the NPs exhibited an increase in the energy gap from 3.27 eV to 3.75 eV as LASER fluence increased from 30 mJ/cm2 to 60 mJ/cm2. The average NPs core size distributions for the core-shell material ranged at ∼70 nm with the shell thickness around 20 nm. The biggest NPs were of ∼170 nm size which were sparsely distributed. The magnetization behaviors of the NPs were also investigated using the vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The NPs showed antimicrobial activities against the pathogenic species: Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The antimicrobial activities of the synthesized NPs, synthesized under the influence of magnetic fields, were found to be more potent than the NPs synthesized without the presence of any magnetic field. The NPs prepared under the influence of the magnetic fields also comparatively exhibited higher levels of cytotoxicity against lung cancer cell lines (A549) than the NPs prepared under no magnetic field’s influence by the similar energy level effects of the LASER fluence. The flow cytometry analyses confirmed the NPs’ cytotoxic impacts against the human lung cancer A549 cell lines through the initiation of apoptosis and promotion of the cell cycle arrest at the G1 phase of cell division. To further confirm the cytotoxic effects and the mechanism of the anticancer activity of the synthesized NPs against the A549 cell lines, several related parameters (cell viability, membrane permeability, nuclear intensity, and cytochrome-C release) were analyzed using the high-content screening (HCS) assay. The study suggested that the prepared NPs have potential as antimicrobial and also as anti-lung-cancer agents as tested in vitro. These NPs can also be part of combined chemotherapy in different oncological interventions, as well as a sonosensitizer in sonomagnetic heating-based therapy, especially for cancers.

[Retracted] Preparation of Iron Oxide and Titania-Based Composite, Core-Shell Populated, Nanoparticulates Material by Two-Step LASER Ablation in Aqueous Media as Antimicrobial and Anticancer Agents

Climate change, clean air, renewable energy, nontoxic surroundings, and the opportunity to live in a healthy community are just few of the issues that environmental sustainability addresses. To improve environmental health and quality of life, several researchers have turned their attention to alternative energy sources like ethanol and oxyhydrogen. In latest years, significant progress has been made in the development of ethanol and hydrogen as clean energy sources. A higher octane rating is achieved by mixing ethanol with gasoline rather than using regular gasoline. A novel mix of oxyhydrogen, ethanol, and gasoline is ecologically friendly while simultaneously increasing the performance of gasoline engines. In this study, a nanoparticle-coated piston on a low heat rejection gasoline engine fuelled by an ethanol-gasoline mix with oxyhydrogen addition was investigated. It has been evaluated that thermal efficiency improved by up to 25&#x0025; while fuel consumption can be reduced by up to 28&#x0025; on a volume basis compared to the baseline engine. Furthermore, the decrease in harmful carbon monoxide reached around 10&#x0025;, and the reduction in unburned hydrocarbon emissions reached 18&#x0025;.

Sustainability and Environmental Impact of Ethanol and Oxyhydrogen Addition on Nanocoated Gasoline Engine

The influence of bath temperature on nano-manufactured PbSe (lead selenide) films was successfully generated by utilizing CBD on the acid solution’s metal surface tool. Pb (NO3)2 was employed as a lead ion source as a precursor, while Na2O4Se was used as a selenide ion source. The XRD characterization revealed that the prepared samples are the property of crystalline structure (111), (101), (100), and (110) Miller indices. The scanning electron microscope indicated that the particles have a rock-like shape. There was a decrement of energy bandgap that is from 2.4 eV to 1.2 eV with increasing temperature 20°C–85°C. Thin films prepared at 85°C revealed the best polycrystal structure as well as homogeneously dispersed on the substrate at superior particle scales. The photoluminescence spectrophotometer witnessed that as the temperature of the solution bath increases from 20°C to 85°C, the average strength of PL emission of the film decreases. The maximum photoluminescence strength predominantly exists at high temperatures because of self-trapped exciton recombination, formed from O2 vacancy and particle size what we call defect centres, for the deposited thin films at 45°C and 85°C. Therefore, the finest solution temperature is 85°C.
