Special Issue in Honor of Professor Nick Hadjiliadis’ Retirement

Description

We invite the contribution of research and review articles for this special issue of Bioinorganic Chemistry and Applications in honor of Professor N. Hadjiliadis's retirement. Professor N. Hadjiliadis retired last September after a brilliant academic career, mainly in the University of Ioannina, Greece. However, he continues to be involved in research and other academic activities. It is not an exaggeration to say that he has been the father of modern inorganic chemistry in Greece, and the scientist who established the interdisciplinary field of bioinorganic chemistry in this country. He has carried out excellent research in at least six interesting areas of contemporary coordination/inorganic/bioinorganic chemistry. He is author or coauthor of successful general and inorganic chemistry text books, which are in use by students in many Greek universities' departments. He has organized international conferences and meetings in Greece, including the very successful “5th International Symposium on Applied Bioinorganic Chemistry.” Finally, he has made the Chemistry Department of the University of Ioannina the center for coordination chemistry and bioinorganic chemistry research in Greece.

Potential topics that might be included in this special issue will be the current research activities of the contributing authors in the field of bioinorganic chemistry, including metal-based drugs, models for the active sites of various enzymes, metal-peptide chemistry, bioinorganic catalysis, and so forth.

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author Guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/bca/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
