A Styrene-alt-Maleic Acid Copolymer Is an Effective Inhibitor of R5 and X4 Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 Infection

alt-PSMA has low in vitro cytotoxicity similar to DS. P4-R5 MAGI cells were exposed (or mock-exposed) to the indicated concentrations of (a) alt-PSMA or (b) DS for 10 min, 2 h, or 24 h. Following the exposure period, cells were washed and assessed for viability using an MTT assay (as described in Section 2). Results illustrated are from two independent assays in which each concentration was examined in quadruplicate.
