Investigation of Antiangiogenic Tumor Therapy Potential of Microencapsulated HEK293 VEGF₁₆₅b Producing Cells

The effects of VEGF and VEGF₁₆₅b on HUVECs proliferation. The cells received 25 ng/ml VEGF, 25 ng/ml VEGF and two-fold purified VEGF₁₆₅b or 25 ng/ml VEGF and two-fold harvested VEGF₁₆₅b from microencapsulated HEK293 VEGF₁₆₅b producing cells after overnight starving from serum and growth factors. HUVEC proliferation was determined after 72 hours by MTS-based assay. Purified VEGF₁₆₅b and harvested VEGF₁₆₅b from encapsulated HEK293 VEGF₁₆₅b producing cells offered similar results in inhibition of cell proliferation, 𝑛=3, 𝑃=.06.
