Discrepancy between mRNA and Protein Expression of Neutrophil Gelatinase-Associated Lipocalin in Bronchial Epithelium Induced by Sulfur Mustard
Light micrograph of NGAL-immunoposive cells in the bronchial epithelium. (a) NGAL-immunoreactivity in bronchial epithelial cell of control group. NGAL-immunopositivity weakly demonstrated in substantial number of cells vicinity to basement membrane (BM) (short arrow) and rarely in the luminal border of epithelial cell (long arrow). (b) Immunoreactivity intensity decreased at bronchial epithelial cell of chemical injured patients and no immunoreactions is seen throughout the section. Note that the thickness of epithelial cell layer in experimental group is higher than control group due to chemical injury. BMbasement membrane.
