Desmosomal-mitochondrial associations in FS cells from WT and Nhe2^-/- mice (𝑛=3 for each group) were analyzed by electron microscopy. Note that the desmosomes associated with two mitochondria (one from each FS cell) are a subset of those associated with at least 1 mitochondrion. *𝑃 values are relative to corresponding WT control.
