Molybdate reduction using various electron donors. Isolate DRY1 was grown at 10°C for 72 hours in low phosphate liquid medium (pH 7.0) containing (w/v) MgSO47H2O (0.05%), (NH4)2 SO4 (0.3%), NaCl (0.5%), Na2MoO42H2O (0.242%), yeast extract (0.05%), and Na2HPO42H2O (0.05%) and various electron donors at the final concentration of 0.2%. Molybdate reduction is considered negligible if the absorbance at 865 nm is below 0.020. Error bars represent mean standard error ().
