Molybdate reduction using various nitrogen sources. Isolate DRY1 was grown at 10°C for 72 hours in low phosphate liquid medium (pH 7.0) containing (w/v) glucose (1%), MgSO47H2O (0.05%), NaCl (0.5%), Na2MoO42H2O (0.242%), yeast extract (0.05%), Na2HPO42H2O (0.05%), and various nitrogen sources at the final concentration of 0.2%. Molybdate reduction is considered negligible if the absorbance at 865 nm is below 0.020. Error bars represent the standard error of the mean between three determinations.
