<i>N</i>-Acyl Homoserine Lactone-Mediated Quorum Sensing with Special Reference to Use of Quorum Quenching Bacteria in Membrane Biofouling Control

<table>Construction of bacterial biosensor for the detection of exogenous AHLs. The bacterial biosensor is deficient in AHL production and when exogenous AHL interacts with<i> LuxR</i> protein, the transcription of reporter genes from<i> LuxR</i>-AHL regulated promoter initiated. This results in the display of specific phenotypes such as <i>β</i>-galactosidase activity, violacein pigmentation, bioluminescence, and green fluorescent protein production.</table>
