Crude Extracts from Lycium barbarum Suppress SREBP-1c Expression and Prevent Diet-Induced Fatty Liver through AMPK Activation
LBP reduces intracellular triacylglycerol accumulation via activation of AMPK and suppression of SREBP-1c in HepG2 cells. (a) HepG2 cells were pretreated with 250 μM palmitate for 12 h and then treated with 30–600 μg/mL LBP for 12 h. Western blot analyzed p-AMPK, nuclear SREBP-1c, p-ACC, and FAS expression. Data was normalized to β-actin and #, compared to HFD group, respectively. (b) Representative photos of Oil Red O-stained HepG2 cells (×1000 magnification).
