Mitochondrial pyridine nucleotides in freshly isolated rat liver and brain mitochondria incubated in the absence of added substrates. Incubation medium contained 120 mM KCl, 10 mM NaCl, 2 mM MgCl₂, 2 mM KH₂PO₄, 20 mM MOPS, pH 7.2, 1 mM EGTA, and 0.7 mM CaCl₂. Mitochondrial protein 0.5 mg/mL. Fluorescence of mitochondrial NAD(P)H was measured as described in [74].
