Neuroprotective Effects of Adipose-Derived Stem Cells Are Maintained for 3 Weeks against Ischemic Damage in the Rabbit Spinal Cord

Figure 2

Cresyl violet staining in the ventral horn of the L5-L6 spinal cord in the sham (a), vehicle-ischemia (b), and ASC-ischemia (c) groups at 3 weeks after ischemia/reperfusion. In the sham group, cresyl violet positive neurons are thoroughly detected in the spinal cord. In the vehicle-ischemia group, cresyl violet positive neurons are significantly decreased in the ventral horn of spinal cord. In addition, the size of spinal cord is small compared to that in the sham group. In the ASC-ischemia group, cresyl violet-positive neurons are abundant in the ventral horn. Scale bar ā€‰ m. The mean number of cresyl violet-positive neurons (d) and the overall size of spinal cord (e) per section of each group ( per group; versus the sham group; versus the vehicle-ischemia group). All data are shown as the means standard errors of means (SEM).
