Cerebral Endothelial Function Determined by Cerebrovascular Reactivity to L-Arginine

Figure 2

Cerebrovascular reactivity to L-arginine. The subject rests in a supine position. Two 2 MHz probes are immobilized by a handle on the subjects’ head and from both middle cerebral arteries (MCA) is recorded by TCD. Blood pressure and heart frequency on the right radial artery are monitored as well as CO2 concentration in the exhaled air. All signals appear on the same time scale on the computer. Intravenous infusion of L-arginine is injected into the left brachial vein by a pump.
