Cervical Cancer Cell Supernatants Induce a Phenotypic Switch from U937-Derived Macrophage-Activated M1 State into M2-Like Suppressor Phenotype with Change in Toll-Like Receptor Profile

Figure 3

Supernatant of cervical cancer (CC) cells induces a decrease in proinflammatory cytokines and an increase in Interleukin-10 (IL-10). U937-derived macrophages activated with lipopolysaccharides (LPS) were treated or not with supernatant of HeLa, SiHa, and C-33A or Dexamethasone (DEX) for 7 days. After that, supernatant of this culture was collected and cytokine concentrations were measured by flow cytometry (FC) using a cytometric bead array (CBA) kit. The results represent the average concentrations in pg/mL for each cytokine and represent the mean ± standard deviation (SD). Statistical analysis, Student’s -test. Basal and LPS versus HeLa, SiHa, and C-33A groups. Basal and LPS groups versus SiHa and HeLa groups. LPS versus Basal group. LPS versus Basal group.
