Detecting bFGF in in vivo and in vitro samples. Elevated bFGF levels observed in lavage fluids from acutely infected knee joints (a) which were significantly elevated in cocultures challenged by LPS ((b) day 3 *, day 7 ***, and day 10 *) or LPS PMA ((b) day 7 **, day 10 ***), too. Increased expression of bFGF mRNA was detected in CHDR and SFB upon LPS and LPS PMA challenge (c, d).
