Huangqin-Tang Ameliorates TNBS-Induced Colitis by Regulating Effector and Regulatory CD4+ T Cells

Figure 3

HQT regulates frequencies of Th1, Th2, Th17, and Treg in the TNBS-induced colitis model. Rats with TNBS-induced colitis were treated with or without HQT (120 mg/kg) and analyzed 7 days after treatment. Lamina propria mononuclear cells (LPMCs) were isolated from each group and subjected to intracellular IFN-γ, IL-4, IL-17, and Foxp3 staining. (a) The frequency of T helper 1 (Th1) (CD4+IFN-γ+), Th2 (CD4+IL-4+), Th17 (CD4+IL-17+), and regulatory T (Treg) (CD4+CD25+Foxp3+) was determined by flow cytometry. Numbers represent the percentages of IFN-γ, IL-4, IL-17A-expressing CD4+ T cells, and Foxp3-expressing CD4+CD25+ T cells in each quadrant. (b) Quantitative analysis of the frequency and total number of Th1, Th2, Th17, and Treg in LPMCs. Results represent the mean ± SD from eight mice per group. , versus the control group. Δ, ΔΔ versus TNBS-treated rats.
