Lespedeza davurica (Lax.) Schindl. Extract Protects against Cytokine-Induced β-Cell Damage and Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetes

Effects of LD extract on cytokine-induced cell death, NO production, and iNOS protein and mRNA expression in RINm5F cells. RINm5F cells () were pretreated with the indicated concentrations of LD extract for 3 h, followed by stimulation with IL-1β (2 ng/mL) and IFN-γ (100 U/mL) for 48 h. Cell viability (a), NO production (b), and iNOS protein and mRNA expression (c) were determined by the MTT assay, Griess reagent, western blotting, and RT-PCR analyses, respectively. Each value represents the mean ± SE of three independent experiments. Bars with different letters are significantly different at (Duncan’s multiple comparison tests).
