T Helper Subsets, Peripheral Plasticity, and the Acute Phase Protein, <i>α</i>1-Antitrypsin

<div>T helper (TH) cells differentiation and reprograming. TH0 cell can differentiate into specific TH subsets (<i>gray arrows</i>) under the influence of cytokines, which on the one hand can promote differentiation into a specific subset (<i>green arrows</i>) and on the other hand block differentiation towards a functionally-opposing subset (<i>red blocked arrows</i>). In addition, differentiated TH cells may be reprogramed to acquire a different TH phenotype (<i>black arrows</i>).</div>
