Synergistic Inhibitory Effects of Cetuximab and Cisplatin on Human Colon Cancer Cell Growth via Inhibition of the ERK-Dependent EGF Receptor Signaling Pathway

Figure 1

Effects of cetuximab and cisplatin on human colon cancer cell growth. After treatment of (a) cetuximab (30, 50, and 100 μg/mL) or (b) cisplatin (1, 3, and 5 μg/mL) for 24 h, its effect on cell growth was determined by MTT assay in HCT116 and SW480 human colon cancer cells. (c) Cells were treated with cetuximab (30 μg/mL) or cisplatin (2 μg/mL) or the combination of both agents. After treatment for 24 h, cell growth was determined by MTT assay. Data are shown as the mean ± SD of three independent experiments. indicates statistically significant differences from the control. indicates statistically significant differences from the cetuximab treatment alone. (d) Morphologic observation. Representative images of each experimental group are shown.
