Effect of Fe3O4 nanoparticles on myofibroblast formation. (a) Gene expression of αSMA was analyzed by real-time RT-PCR with normalization against HPRT1. The data represent means ± s.e.m. . CM: conditioned medium. versus TGF1 treatment only (Student’s -test). (b) Fibroblasts were grown to subconfluence. These cells were either untreated or incubated with 50 μM or 350 μM Fe3O4 nanoparticles for 24 h before treatment with rTGFβ1. TGFβ1 and the Fe3O4 nanoparticles were present for 48 h. α-tubulin served as loading control.. CM: conditioned medium.
