Jacalin-Activated Macrophages Exhibit an Antitumor Phenotype

Jacalin binds to the surface of macrophages, HT-29 cells, and MCF-7 cells. Macrophages (a), HT-29 (b), or MCF-7 (c) cells (1 × 106 cells) were incubated for 30 minutes at 4°C with biotinylated jacalin (20 μg/mL) previously incubated with 100 mM D-galactose or glucose for 30 minutes at room temperature. After washing, cells were incubated with Alexa 488-conjugated streptavidin and analyzed by flow cytometry. Results are representative of three independent assays.
