Hepatoepigenetic Alterations in Viral and Nonviral-Induced Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Epigenetic alterations in hepatocarcinogenesis. DNA methylation, histone modification, and noncoding miRs cooperate in altering gene transcription and hepatic architecture leading to perturbed cellular processes associated with tumour initiation and metastases. Alteration in gene transcription is governed by several enzymes, including DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs), group of ten-eleven translocation (Tet1, Tet2, and Tet3) enzymes, histone methyltransferases (HMTs), and histone demethylases (HDMTs).
