Potential Effects of Corneal Cross-Linking upon the Limbus

In this case limbus might be only partially protected by the overlaying epithelium. In fact, even if the remotion is accurate, part of the limbus-protecting epithelium could be detached and lose its shielding properties. Moreover the reactive riboflavin is free to diffuse and to reach also the limbal region.
