Cornel Iridoid Glycoside Improves Locomotor Impairment and Decreases Spinal Cord Damage in Rats

Figure 2

Effects of CIG on locomotor function in spinal cord injury (SCI) rats. Cornel iridoid glycoside (CIG) was intragastrically administered to rats starting at 4 h after the surgery of SCI and once a day for 31 days. The locomotor function was evaluated by Basso, Beattie, and Bresnahan (BBB) locomotor rating scale in the open-field test. (a) The BBB scores () determined at 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31 days post-injury (dpi). Data represent mean ± SEM, . , the SCI model group versus sham control group; , , CIG-treated groups versus the model group. (b) The percentages of rats with , , and in total rats, respectively, at 31 dpi.
