The hyalinized area is surrounded by areas with dilated and atrophic seminiferous tubules and with microcalcifications (which are the reasons for the folding artefacts of the preparation). (b) After a traditional open biopsy, a huge area with a lot of microcalcifications and surrounded by dilated and atrophic seminiferous tubules is observed near the rete testis.
