Prothrombotic Fibrin Clot Phenotype in Patients with Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism: A New Risk Factor for Recurrence

Recurrent VTE episodes during follow-up in relation to plasma fibrin clot properties measured after 3–6 months since the index event (based on [4, 5]). Lower clot permeability and prolonged clot lysis have been reported in patients who experienced VTE recurrences after anticoagulation withdrawal, with a larger impact on deep vein thrombosis.
