The Phosphatase Inhibitor Calyculin-A Impairs Clot Retraction, Platelet Activation, and Thrombin Generation

Figure 1

Inhibitory effect of CLA on clot retraction. Nonactivated (NA) and TRAP-activated samples displayed an intense clot retraction by 60 minutes, while CLA-pretreated samples were much less retracted (a). This significant difference could be observed by the lower quantity of extruded serum in CLA-pretreated samples (b) and a tendency could be observed to display higher fibrin monomer concentrations in CLA-pretreated samples (c). Nonactivated and activated samples are indicated with open bars and CLA-preincubated samples are represented by the black bars. The results are the mean and standard error of the mean (SEM) of 5 different experiments. Statistical significance was assessed by paired -test. . ns = nonsignificant.
