Distinct Epitopes on CD13 Mediate Opposite Consequences for Cell Adhesion

Inhibitory mAbs C and E recognize an epitope on CD13 that is different from the epitope recognized by mAb 452. U-937 were incubated with saturating concentrations of unlabeled mAbs WM-15, C, E, and 452, a control IgG, or no antibody, at 4°C. After washing, cells were incubated with (a) goat anti-mouse Ig-FITC, (b) mAb 452–FITC, (c) mAb C-FITC, and (d) mAb E-FITC. Binding of the FITC-labeled antibody was determined by flow cytometry.
