Effect of Lead on Human Middle Ear Epithelial Cells

Figure 10

Effect of amniotic membrane extract (AME) and chorionic membrane extract (CME) on alterations of gene expression in human middle ear epithelial cells (HMEECs) following exposure to lead: administration of AME and CME decreased gene expression of TNF- and COX-2 (a), MUC5AC, MUC5B (b), and AQP-4 (d) in HMEECs exposed to 600 μg/mL lead(II) acetate trihydrate. Administration of AME and CME increased gene expression of ENaC-, ENaC-, and ENaC- (c) in HMEECs exposed to 600 μg/mL lead(II) acetate trihydrate. Error bars indicate the standard error of the mean (SEM).
