Effect of Lead on Human Middle Ear Epithelial Cells

Effect of amniotic membrane extract (AME) and chorionic membrane extract (CME) on reactive oxygen species (ROS) activity of human middle ear epithelial cells (HMEECs) following exposure to lead. As a positive control, 50 μg/mL tert-butyl hydrogen peroxide (TBHP) was used: administration of 100 and 200 μg/mL AME or CME significantly decreased ROS activity in HMEECs exposed to 100 μg/mL lead(II) acetate trihydrate. Error bars indicate the standard error of the mean (SEM).
