Effects of Fine Particulate Matter on Pseudomonas aeruginosa Adhesion and Biofilm Formation In Vitro

A549 cells infected with P. aeruginosa images stained with SYTO9 (green) for 6 h. Images were captured using a fluorescence microscope. P. aeruginosa with green fluorescence are rarely observed in a selected microscopic field without fine particulate matter (FPM); however, the number of infecting bacteria increased with an increase in the concentration of FPM in culture media.
