The patient in the figure was a 38-year-old man whose height was 180 cm. The herniated nucleus could be identified on the coronal plane of MRI from the medial to the lateral side of the nerve root. Preoperative anterior and posterior X-ray images revealed the width of the interlaminar space, whereas intraoperative X-ray using C-arm fluoroscopy revealed the diameter of the working tube to be considerably larger than that of the interlaminar space.
