Association between HDL particle size and plasma SAA levels. HDL fractions from patients () just after (POST) orthopedic surgery and on postoperative day 3 (POD3) were isolated by ultracentrifugation, and 40 μL of 0.5 mg/mL HDL was resolved by HPLC. A representative HPLC profile is shown (a). The ratio of the retention times on POD3 and POST was compared to the plasma SAA concentration on POD3 (b). The correlation was estimated by Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient test.
