Development and Application of Medicine-Engineering Integration in the Rehabilitation of Traumatic Brain Injury
Table 7
The advantages and disadvantages of Repeated Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.
Repeated Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS)
Advantages
(1) A noninvasive and painless method [42, 46]. (2) A safe, noninvasive, effective therapeutic intervention [47, 49]. (3) No significant side effects [48].
Disadvantages
(1) The most clinically effective rTMS parameters and the optimal site for stimulation in TBI are not currently known [42]. (2) The limited knowledge regarding the side effects of TMS [42]. (3) TBI patients who receive rTMS may experience a mild headache after the treatment session [42]. (4) Lead a risk of temporary mild hearing loss due to its substantial volume [42]. (5) The high intensity of stimulation is not well tolerated [48].
