The effect of subfraction 5 (Sub5) on HepG2 cell apoptosis. Cell apoptosis was measured using annexin V-FITC/PI staining with flow cytometry. HepG2 cells were treated with Sub5 (0 to 400 μg/mL) or 5-FU (25 μg/mL) for 24 h (a) and 48 h (b). The percentage of apoptosis was estimated using the sum of the populations of annexin V-FITC (+) and PI (+/−) (c). and represent significantly different results at p <0.01 from the untreated cells and treatment time, respectively.
