Cell survival, as measured by MTT assay, of ALT astrocytes following treatment with varying doses of WBM (0.25-500 μg/mL) (a) and α-ESA (0.07-11.1 μg/mL) (c). Concentrations with less cytotoxic effects were determined (>80% of cell viability) at 0.25-6 μg/mL in WBM (b) and 0.07-0.56 μg/mL in α-ESA (d). For in vitro experiments, 1 μg/mL WBM and 0.28 μg/mL α-ESA were selected. Vertical bars indicate the (SEM) (). vs. control.
