Activity of Phosvitin in Hydroxyapatite Acid-Damage Immersion and Antimicrobial Assays

Figure 6

Minimum inhibitory concentration assay. The ability of phosvitin to inhibit the growth of M. luteus was assessed in the absence of added calcium by measuring turbidity at an absorbance of 600 nm. Error bars reflect the standard deviation associated with the average of two measurements. There was no visible growth of M. luteus at either 0.5 mg/mL phosvitin or at 1 mg/mL phosvitin. When linear regression analysis was performed on the data at 0.13, 0.25, and 0.5 mg/mL phosvitin (trend line not shown), the R2 for the linear regression was 0.9906, and the equation for the line was y = −0.7408x + 0.6969.
