Diverse Effect of Vitamin C and N-Acetylcysteine on Aluminum-Induced Eryptosis

Figure 2

Effect of vitamin C (+vit C) and n-acetyl cysteine (+NAC) on Al-induced hemolysis. AlCl3 increase hemolysis in a dose-dependent manner. NAC (1 mM) decreased Al-induced hemolysis while vit C (0.6 mM) had no significant effects on Al-induced hemolysis. Data are mean ± SD of at least five independent experiments. Nonparametric Kruskal–Wallis was used for the statistical analyses.  < 0.05 was considered as significant statistical differences between the group. values compared to the untreated control group ( = 0.028,  = 0.002,  = 0.0001), significant differences compared to corresponding AlCl3-treated groups ((# = 0.031, ## = 0.035, ### = 0.038).
