Statistical comparisons are made between the selected cohort and the matched subset with sepsis (n = 429) and between the selected cohort and the remaining matched subset (n = 2461). Data are presented as median (interquartile range) for continuous and ordinal variables and as number (fraction of entire cohort in percent) for dichotomous variables. Primary diagnoses are reported with respect to the affected organ system, except for the sepsis diagnose. compared with selected cohort. # compared with selected cohort.
