Granular layer network topology. (a) Network topology map. Granule cells (GrCs) receive 1–4 excitatory inputs from mossy fibers. GrC receive 0 (no inhibition)–4 inhibitory inputs from GoC via the GABAergic synapses, one per granule neuron dendrite. The ratio is about 4000 : 1 [1].
